Smells are strongly connected to certain emotions. There are scents that can give us the feeling of being refreshed and others that calm us down. That makes essential oils perfect for your yoga practice.
Depending on the kind of class I teach, I always use different oils, that I rub quickly into my palms so that my students can smell it in Savasana. During summer and outdoor classes, I love to use citrus oils such as lemon, lemongrass and orange. For me that's like the perfect smell of summer.
If I have indoor classes, I tend to go for oils that have a warmer feel such as vanilla or cinnamon.
Late night classes are perfect with lavender, because lavender as a calming effect on your nervous system and makes you sleepy.
Early bird morning classes are best combined with peppermint oils. Peppermint has a cooling effect and leaves you re-energized. How better start into the new day?
So if you wanna take your home yoga practice to the next level and spoil yourself a little bit, you might get some essential oils for your home. Essential oils come in all different shapes and prices. I personally love the brand Primavera, which is organic and produced in Bavaria.
